Lead Magnet Plan: Collections Readiness Checklist
The Collections Readiness Checklist is finished: a four-page guide to everything a business should gather before placing a past-due commercial account. This tab shows how we put it to work: where it’s offered, what happens when someone downloads it, how your team can use it, and what we expect it to produce.
At a glance
- It does two jobs: it turns anonymous visitors into named contacts, and it helps new clients place accounts faster.
- Offered everywhere prospects meet you: the website, articles, social posts, mailers, LinkedIn outreach and ads.
- Every download starts a short follow-up email sequence and alerts your team.
- Every download is tracked, so we know which channel produced it.
1. What the Checklist Covers
| Section | What it gathers |
|---|---|
| A. Debtor Information | Legal name, addresses, key contacts, entity type, owners and guarantors |
| B. Agreements & Credit Documents | Credit application, personal guaranty, contracts and terms |
| C. Proof of Work & Billing | Invoices, signed field tickets, statements and supporting records |
| D. Payment & Communication History | Payments, last contact, correspondence and disputes |
| E. Lien & Deadline Details | Last date of work, job location, liens filed, bankruptcy notices (time-sensitive) |
| F. Before You Place the Account | One internal contact, routing debtor calls, sending what you have now |
It positions Melton Norcross as the expert before the first conversation, and it flags the lien dates that make speed matter.
2. Where It’s Offered
| Channel | How it appears |
|---|---|
| Website | Its own landing page, the Resources hub, a banner on service and industry pages, and the Place an Account page |
| Articles | A call-out in every article, especially the red flags and credit application articles |
| LinkedIn and social | Offered in the first comment of the “check is in the mail” post and in later posts |
| Business mailers | A QR code on each mailer leading to a campaign version of the landing page |
| LinkedIn outreach | Offered as a helpful next step in the message sequence |
| Ads | Used as the offer for retargeting ads to people who visited but didn’t place an account |
| Your team | Sent to new clients before their first placement, and attached to email signatures |
3. The Landing Page
| Element | Content |
|---|---|
| Headline | Place your next account faster. |
| Subhead | The free Collections Readiness Checklist: everything to gather before you place a past-due commercial account. |
| What’s inside | Six sections, lien-aware, built for commercial and oil & gas receivables |
| Form | Name, company, email, and an optional question: “Do you have a past-due account right now?” |
| After the form | Instant download, plus a link to Place an Account |
4. What Happens After a Download
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Immediately | The checklist is emailed to them, and the contact is created with their source (website, mailer, LinkedIn, ad). |
| Same day | If they answered “yes” to having a past-due account, your team is alerted to follow up personally. |
| Day 3 | Email: the number one reason past-due accounts become uncollectible. |
| Day 7 | Email: what happens when you place an account with Melton Norcross. |
| Day 14 | Email: mineral liens, the deadline most companies miss. |
| Day 21 | Email: ready to get paid? No collection, no fee, with an offer of a free account review. |
| After that | They receive the monthly Collections Alert. |
The full sequence is in the Email Marketing section. Your team can look up any contact and see which emails they opened and which pages they visited.
5. What We Expect From It
| Measure | Starting target | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page conversion | 20โ30% of visitors download | Shows the offer and page are working |
| Downloads | Steady growth each month as more channels point to it | Builds a list of named, interested prospects |
| Hand-raisers | Contacts who say they have a past-due account now | Your warmest leads, followed up the same day |
| Accounts placed | Placements from downloaders within 90 days | The result that matters most |
| Source | Downloads by channel | Shows which channels deserve more effort |
These are starting targets. After the first 60 days we’ll replace them with your actual numbers and adjust the offer, page and promotion.
6. What We Need From You
- Approval of the checklist and landing page wording.
- Who receives alerts when a downloader has a past-due account.
- Your team’s use: whether you’d like the checklist sent to every new client before their first placement.
