1. Questions for Your Review

How much does a commercial collection agency charge?
Most commercial collection agencies work on contingency, keeping a percentage of what they recover. Melton Norcross charges 25% on commercial accounts and 40% on accounts that require suit, with no upfront fees. If we don't collect, you don't pay.

Why is the fee higher when legal action is needed?
Accounts that go to suit involve attorney time, court processes and a longer timeline. The higher rate on suit accounts reflects that added work. We'll always discuss legal action with you before it's taken.

Is it worth using a collection agency for a small balance?
Often, yes. Because there is no upfront cost, placing a smaller account carries little risk, and an early demand from a collection agency frequently prompts payment. We'll tell you honestly if an account isn't worth pursuing.

Can I recover collection costs or attorney fees from the debtor?
