Lead Magnet: The Collections Readiness Checklist
Prepared for Melton Norcross & Associates, LLC by Blue Carrot Creative · October 2026
The tracking platform shows that someone is interested. A lead magnet is what tells you who they are. This section explains how the Collections Readiness Checklist will turn anonymous visitors from your mailers, newsletter and website into named contacts your team can follow up with. The finished checklist is included in this section of your portal.
At a glance
- A free, practical resource your prospects can use right away: a four-page checklist of everything to gather before placing a past-due commercial account.
- Exchanged for a short form. Name, company and email unlock the download, and that form fill is what turns an anonymous visit into a named contact.
- Connected to tracking. Once someone downloads it, their earlier visits, the mailing that brought them and their newsletter activity all attach to one record.
- Built to start conversations. Someone downloading a collections checklist almost always has a past-due account in mind.
1. What the Checklist Is
A branded four-page guide in Melton Norcross colors, with your logo, contact information and both office locations. It walks a prospect through six areas:
- A. Debtor information
- B. Agreements and credit documents
- C. Proof of work and billing
- D. Payment and communication history
- E. Lien and deadline details, flagged as time-sensitive
- F. Steps to take before placing the account
The last page closes with a Place an Account button and a QR code, both linking back to MeltonNorcross.com/collections_readiness_checklist_q4-026, so the checklist keeps bringing people back to the site long after it’s downloaded.
2. Why It Matters
Most interest is invisible today
A prospect who scans a mailer, reads a few pages and leaves without calling is still a mystery. The tracking platform can often tell you which company they’re with, but not who to call. A single form fill changes that.
People trade information for something useful
Very few visitors will fill out a “contact us” form before they’re ready to place an account. Many more will share their name and email in exchange for a resource that helps them with a problem they have right now.
It qualifies the lead for you
A business owner or credit manager who downloads a collections readiness checklist is very likely holding a past-due account. That makes every download a warm lead, not a cold one.
It starts the relationship early
Not every prospect is ready to place an account today. Downloaders join the Collections Alert list, so Melton Norcross stays in front of them every month until they are.
3. How It Works
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. They find it | A prospect sees the checklist offer on a mailer, in the newsletter, on social media or on the website. |
| 2. They visit | They scan the QR code or type in the web address and land on the checklist page. The visit is credited to the campaign that brought them. |
| 3. They fill out a short form | Name, company, email and phone. Keeping it short keeps more people completing it. |
| 4. They get the checklist | The PDF is delivered instantly by download and by email. |
| 5. A contact is created | Their full history attaches to a new contact record: earlier website visits, the mailing they came from and the pages they read. |
| 6. Your team is notified | The person responsible for follow-up gets an alert with the new contact’s details. |
| 7. Follow-up begins | A personal call or email, plus the monthly Collections Alert from then on. |
4. Where We’ll Promote It
- Direct mail: a QR code and short web address on each mailing, tracked by campaign group.
- Website: featured on the Resources page and offered on key service pages, including Mineral Liens and Commercial Debt Collection.
- Collections Alert: announced in the newsletter and linked in future issues.
- Social media and Google Business Profiles: recurring posts linking to the checklist page.
5. Following Up on Downloads
A download is a signal to act while the prospect is still thinking about the problem. We recommend:
- A personal touch within one business day: a short call or email from your team that references the checklist and offers to review a past-due account with them.
- Check the lookup first: before calling, see which pages they read and which mailing brought them, and tailor the conversation.
- No pressure if they’re not ready: they continue receiving the Collections Alert and can come back when they are.
6. What We’ll Measure
| Measure | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Checklist downloads | The core number: how many anonymous visitors became named contacts. |
| Downloads by campaign and segment | Which mailings, lists and channels produce the most leads. |
| Visit-to-download rate | How well the checklist page converts the traffic it receives. |
| Downloads that lead to a placed account | The bottom line: new business that started with the checklist. |
| Return visits and newsletter activity after download | Which leads are warming up and worth another call. |
These results will be included in your monthly portal reporting.
7. What We’ll Need From You
- Review the checklist, especially the lien and deadline wording in Section E, to confirm it matches how you advise clients.
- Name the follow-up owner: who should receive download alerts and make the first contact.
- Confirm the form fields: name, company, email and phone, or let us know if you’d like to ask anything else.
